MWISENEZA Marie Josée is a Registered Medical-Surgical Nurse Specialist and an Assistant Lecturer at the University of Rwanda(UR), School of Nursing and Midwifery(SoNM) for more than 10 years, (since November 2012 up to date). She is a holder of a Masters’ degree in Medical-Surgical Nursing Specialty (From the University of Rwanda), Post–Graduate in Pediatric Nutrition (From Boston University), Post–Graduate in Pediatric Nursing (from British Columbia Institute of Technology), Bachelor’s degree with honors in General Nursing Sciences (From Kigali Health Institute), and earned a Professional Certificate of Secondary Education, level A2 in Nursing Sciences (From ESI Ste Elisabeth- Kabgayi )

Mwiseneza Marie Josée, is currently the In-Charge of Students’ Admission and Registration in Post-Graduate Program at UR/CMHS/SoNM, and the Chairperson of Registration Committee, at Rwanda National Council of Nurses and Midwives(NCNM). Previously she has been the Coordinator of Local and International Partnership for three years at the same institution. She has also been the Chairperson of Gender at former Kigali health institute for three years.

Marie Josee, teaches in both undergraduate and graduate nursing programs at UR/CMHS/SoNM. She is mostly involved in teaching module such as, Anatomy and physiology, Medical Surgical Nursing, and Reproductive health for Undergraduate programs. For Graduate program, she is involved in teaching Modules such as: Communication and Leadership in Health Care System, Advanced Pathophysiology and Clinical Management, Advanced Health Assessment, Essentials of Medical Surgical Nursing, Advanced Medical Surgical Nursing, Advanced Medical Surgical Nursing for Special population(Pregnant women, elders and mental health  patients), Clinical Teaching and mentorship and Students’ Research supervision, and Mentorship. Beside this, Marie Josée Mwiseneza, is the Master Trainer of Cross-Cutting Themes(CCTs) including: Gender, GBV, Ethics for Health Care Service Delivery, Interprofessional Education and Collaboration and Maternal Mental health. She has been actively participated in writing pre, and in-service manuals related to these CCTs.

In terms of research experiences, she is currently  (1) the principal investigator  of the research project  : “Multinational Campus Climate Survey to understand University Students’ Knowledge, Attitudes and Experiences associated with Gender-Based Violence”, funded by University of Michigan, (2) Co-investigator of the  research projects titled: “Use of sexual and reproductive health services among adolescents in Rwanda” Funded by the Center for International Reproductive Health Training –Michigan University(IRHT/ UM).

She have been the research assistant , Coordinator and supervisor of various research project such as  (1) Research project zonal coordinator/Supervisor in Rwanda Harmonized Health Facilities Assessment(RHHFA), a survey done by the University of Rwanda, School of Public Health , Supported by Ministry of Health, and World Health Organization(Still ongoing)                      (2) Research project zonal coordinator/Supervisor in the project titled: “ Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices Survey on Maternal, Neonatal, Sexual, and Reproductive Health in Rwanda. A study which was supported by the Belgian project “Enabel” in Collaboration with Rwanda Biomedical Center, (3) Research Project Coordinator: “Factors contributing to the First Delay to Antenatal Care Visit Among Pregnant Women in Gasabo District-Rwanda”. A project done on the collaboration University of Rwanda-Emory University, (4) Research assistant on project entitled “Exploring of Culturally Rooted Meaning and Consequences of Unintended Adolescent Pregnancy in Rwanda” project, (5) Research Assistant on project titled “Acceptability of an Internalized Stigma Reduction Intervention among Women Living with HIV in Rwanda” project
